Coach K With USA…Great For Everyone

He said he wouldn’t, but he’s going to. He was adamant that he was done in London, but people kept asking. Jerry Colangelo 1, Mike Krzyzewski 0.

Today, USA Basketball will officially announce that Coach K remains their guy to lead the national team at the World Cup of Basketball and the 2016 Olympics. 

There’s a fad. A popular stance among fans that hate Duke. They like to talk a big game and say they actually cheer AGAINST the United States when Coach K’s the head man. But this announcement that he’ll continue through 2016 — that’s good news for EVERYONE local.

Best Time For Lousy Luck

It doesn’t matter. Inevitably, people scream that the NBA Draft Lottery’s rigged every year. It’s because the league has a lousy system. Add another reason to the many others of why they should copy how the NFL does it.

But last night — that was a good time for the Charlotte Bobcats to get gypped on percentages.

With the second worst record (21-61), the Bobcats had second best percentages to get the number 1 pick. Instead it went to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time in three years, and the Cats ended up with the 4th pick.

Fine. We can all learn some lessons. Team ownership too.

Will The Hive REALLY Be Alive?

Teal and purple… To me, that represents the colors of one of the first sports teams I played on. It was roller hockey and I honestly wasn’t too fond of the color.

Big difference from those that just spent months campaigning to “Bring Back The Buzz”. 

It’s been a pretty legit campaign, that started the ball rolling, and led a stubborn Michael Jordan to hold town hall meetings and surveys of his season ticket holders. 

Now you all get your wish — the Bobcats will be the Hornets again. The franchise has officially started the process that NBA assistant commissioner Adam Silver says will take 18 months, and they’ll reclaim their old namesake.
